====== Timecode ======

This page outlines a feature not currently in the released version of CueCam but currently being beta tested. There is no guarantee this functionality will be released in its current form and should not be relied upon in production.
CueCam supports three different Timecode sources;
* ETC Response MIDI or SMTPE Gateway
* MIDI Timecode via Network (Apple MIDI or [[https://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/rtpmidi.html|rtpMidi]]) or USB
* LTC/SMPTE Timecode is available via a hardware USB MIDI interface.
* Art-Net Timecode
Only one can be active at any time.
Timecode can be unreliable over WiFi networks, especially those using consumer-grade WiFi routers. A wired connection is preferred however we have had good success in testing with commercial WiFi hardware such as that offered by Ubiquiti and ALTA
===== ETC Response Gateway =====
CueCam will automatically discover ETC Response Gateways on your network, just set the Timecode RX ID in CueCam to match the same ID as you are using in Eos. The Timecode should be displayed within 30s or so. If it is not, ensure that you have working Timecode being received by Eos.
Currently only the standalone ETC Response MIDI and SMPTE gateways are supported. **Not** the Pathway/ETC Net3 Show Control Gateway which incorporates MIDI and SMPTE.

CueCam supports Timecode received over the Network (RTP) MIDI as used by macOS (and other Apple devices) and supported in Windows via third-party tools like [[https://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/rtpmidi.html|rtpMidi]]
This approach is ideally suited to those using QLab or ETCnomad on a Mac, as it works out of the box. Simply provide the IP address and Port (from ''Audio MIDI Setup'' on macOS) of your Mac (or networked RTP MIDI timecode source)
==== USB MIDI (LTC/SMPTE via Converter) ====
You can also use a USB MIDI interface with your iPhone via a USB-C or OTG interface. This allows you to get MIDI or LTC timecode into CueCam direct from the source.
The only device we've tested this with is the [[https://amzn.to/4ecpDuc|DOREMiDi MTC-10]] and [[https://amzn.to/4cjUgeO|DOREMiDi MTC-20]] - note that powering the external device and CueCam itself can consume a lot of power, so we would strongly recommend using a powered USB-C hub or adapter with power passthrough if you're using external devices in this way.

If you are already using Art-Net broadcast timecode on your network, specify the port here (default ''6454'') and CueCam will listen for Art-Net Timecode packets.
